Resize videos with Handbrake

Handbrake

To resize videos for the builder, you can use Handbrake. This tool is available for free download here.

Step 1. Import footage
Once you open Handbrake it asks to import a file, select the desired file or press Cancel and drag a file onto the screen. Want to convert multiple video’s at once? Scroll to the end for instructions.

Step 2. Dimensions
Click on the “Dimensions” tab. Here we set the resolution of the video.

  • Set resolution limit to None
  • Make sure Anamorphic is set to Off.
  • Look at the Scaled Size. Make sure the largest number does not exceed 2000, some devices cannot handle this. If it does, uncheck Optimal size and decrease this number.

Step 3. Video
Click on the“Video” tab.

  • Set Framerate (FPS) to ‘Same as Source’.
  • Set Average Bitrate (kbps) to 1500 (This means how much data per second of video). If the quality of the video is too poor, this may be slightly higher.
  • At the bottom, select the export location at 'Save As:'
  • Press ‘Start’.

Optional: Batch Queue
If you want to process an entire folder of videos at once, open the entire folder via 'Open Source'.

  • Follow the steps as described above.
  • Instead of 'Start' press 'Add all titles to Queue' and then 'Start'.
