Image & video content blocks

Adding a Text / image block

Open your story and press New content block, then pick Text / image.

Each content block is laid out in three columns: the left column holds the options unique to this block (your text and image), the middle column holds options shared across all blocks (like points and explanation text), and the right column shows a live preview so you can see your changes in real time.

Add and arrange your text

Type your text in the Text field on the left. Under Edit text, use the slider next to vertical to move the text within the block, so you can place it exactly how you want it.

Add an image

Click the media button to add an image. You can pick one from the library or upload your own.
Once it's added, choose a layout to control how the image is shown fullscreen or vertical.

πŸ’‘ Keep it on-brand with your Brandkit. You can apply your own Brandkit to style the block. To set one up, go to your story overview and select Brandkit, where you can edit your fonts, colours and shapes. Every block then follows the same look automatically.

The extra options

These options appear on the Text / image block and most other blocks too:

  • Max points β€” award the viewer points for reaching this block. Handy when you want to reward progress. (In question blocks like a Poll or Question, you can also award bonus points for answering correctly within a time limit.)
  • Explanation after finish β€” an extra text panel that appears after the viewer presses Continue. Use it to add context or a bit more explanation before they move to the next block.
  • Continue button text β€” customise the label on the Continue button for this block.

πŸ’‘ Note: when you publish your story, the Continue text is automatically translated into the languages you've chosen β€” so you don't have to edit every content block by hand.

Preview as you go

The right column is a live preview that updates as you edit, so you always see what the viewer will see. To check it on a real device, press the Preview button at the top of the block and scan the QR code or open it in a new tab.

Video

The Video content block plays a full-screen video in your story. Use it for the moments best shown as a clip like an intro or an outro.
Add a Video block, then click media to upload your file or pick one from your library. A few options let you fine-tune how it plays:

  • Subtitles β€” upload a subtitle file so your video stays accessible and works with the sound off. You can use AI to generate the subtitles for you.
  • Alignment β€” choose how the video fills the screen (for example Cover or Contain) so it frames nicely on every device.
  • Continue button β€” show or hide the Continue button, handy if you'd rather the story move on automatically once the clip ends.

Video in a Text block
You can also add a video to a Text block. The video plays in the background of the text block. Background videos are always muted and always loop: when the video ends, it starts again automatically, so it keeps playing continuously.

Short videos and animations to show text
You can also create a short video or animation that shows your text, for example a title that is animated. Upload it in the same way as any other video.

πŸ’‘Tip: avoid a loop that is too short. If your video or animation is very short and loops all the time, it can quickly become annoying. In this case, make the file longer by adding extra time at the end. For example, if your animation is finished after 2 seconds, set the total length to 12 seconds. The animation then stays still for the remaining 10 seconds and only starts over after 12 seconds in total.

Adding a YouTube video to the explanation text
You can also add a YouTube video to the explanation text of a block, so people can watch it without leaving your story.

A handy shortcut: copy a block

Built a block you want to reuse? Click the three dots on the block and choose Copy content block, then add it back in via New content block. It's the fastest way to keep styling consistent across a story and an easy way to test your content block and see how it looks like after you have made some changes.

Ideas & Inspiration

  • Set the scene. Open a story with a fullscreen image and a short line of text to pull viewers in before the interaction starts.
  • Break up long text. Put the main point in the text field and move the details into Explanation after finish, so viewers get the extra context only when they're ready.
  • Stay consistent. Build one perfectly styled Text / image block, then Copy content block it wherever you need the same look.
