It’s not magic. It’s implementation. And yes, that word sounds boring, but that’s exactly where the magic happens.

Every story built with Intractive gives you: an embed code.

(Don’t skip this bit): For your website implementation, you need this embed code. And here’s the catch - it’s different for every story. So, no copy-pasting from this article. Hop into the Builder, grab the code for your masterpiece.

💻 Website implementation

There are three main ways to embed an interactive story, ranging from simple to more technical.

1. Using the Intractive SDK (popup)

How it works:

Step 1: Add the SDK script in the or just before :

Go to your story in the Builder, hit Share, choose Website, enter a name and there it is - your very own SDK code. Copy, paste, done.

Collect information from your users

Accepted Answer

It's possible to ask users for their opinion, feedback or personal information during any story. There are a couple of content blocks for this purpose: Poll, Checklist, Open Question, Form and Review Request.

All answers given during these content blocks are saved and displayed on your Analytics Dashboard.

Poll

With the poll content block, it is possible for the user to rate a series of questions on a scale, with emoji's or to agree/disagree with a statement.

You have control over what type of questions you can ask and how many.

You also have the ability to display a custom message, based on the combined score of the users' answers. For example:

Based on these settings, the user would see the first message when their combined score is between 3 and 8. Conversely, they would see the second message if their combined score was between 9 and 15.

Use a checklist to display a list of options. From this list, the user can select their preferred ones.

Learning a new tool can be a bit overwhelming.

That's why we will break it down for you with these articles. 💙

First, make sure you're logged into the builder: builder.intractive.app

Now you should see your own environment. 😃

On the left side you'll notice the main menu, in Stories there's an extra menu on the 🔝.

Create a Story to get started by clicking on the button.

In a Story, you have the following options:

Story. Here you can build the story.
Translate. Add additional languages.
Analytics. View the user-data and monthly sessions.
Share. Create QR codes & links to the experience.
Settings. Set details like description, language, visibility, etc
Publish story. With every modification, you have to publish the changes.

Question 4

Augmented reality content block explained

Augmented reality content blocks let you project media on real word objects.

The AR Marker content block works with a Marker and a Display Object.
Scroll down in the left column of the content block.

Marker image

For the AR content block to know where to project on, we give it an image it can recognize.

This can be a photo, poster, flyer, street sign, street art, a painting, etc.

Just make sure it has a lot of unique tracking points.

Tracking points you say?! 🤔

Indeed, the AR engine needs to recognize the marker image and has to know what the orientation is.

So an image that is symmetrical is very difficult.

Also, texts will be ignored.

This is an example of a good marker image. The person in the photo has a lot of possible unique tracking points. The QR code also helps.

You can also use Preview to test your marker image (learn about Preview).

Display Object

Now that we have covered the marker, let's continue with the projection part of AR. 📽

Story settings

Below you can find a description of each property you can edit in the story settings.

Basic

Story nameThe story name is displayed on top of the story by default. It's also shown in DMs when shared. You can get creative with the name, but it's best to keep it short!

Story imageUsed in project overview and is the main image when the story is shared. Landscape oriented image works best.

DescriptionGive your users a short description as an introduction of your story. The description is shown when shared online, see the example below.

Base languageThe base language of the story is the language from which translations are made. It should be the language you built your story in. This setting is crucial for determining the correct interface language for the end-user.

PublishedEnabling this setting publishes your story. It can take a few minutes before you see the story in your environment.

Appearance & Behaviour

Default theme Select the theme of your content blocks: light or dark. The default is light.

Enable content animationsIf switched on, all content in the story will appear in an animate fashion. Requires republishing to take effect.

Enable Icon overlayIf enabled, your story will show the story image at the top of the screen. Requires republishing to take effect.

3D models in Augmented Reality

So you want to make 3D models come to life? 🚀 Then you came to the right place.

Here you'll learn how to upload your 3D models, so you can project them on any image you want using the AR Marker content block .

Exporting as GLB/glTF

To upload a 3D model to the builder, you'll first need a 3D model in a GLB or glTF format. We'll show you how to export your 3D model to this format using Blender, but you can also export to GLB and glTF in Blender.

GLB and glTF are more lightweight, which means they run better on web applications like our interactive stories.

To start you need to select all the parts of the model you want to export.

Click on 'File → Export → glTF 2.0' as shown above.

Check 'Selected Objects' and deselect everything under 'Animation'.
Click 'Export glTF 2.0' and you're all done!

Uploading a 3D model

Click on 'Choose file' to upload the 3D model.

Preview

For this version of the builder, the position, rotation and scale may not work as expected. It is best to change these parameters in the 3D modelling software.
