Translate your story

Translating your story

Reaching an audience that speaks more than one language? You don't need to rebuild your story for each one. Add a language, let AI do the heavy lifting, tidy it up, and you're live in multiple languages, all from a single story.

What is a translation in a story?

A translation is simply how your story's text is shown to the viewer in another language. The key thing to know: you're not creating a new story. One story can carry several languages at once and each viewer sees the one that fits them.

💡Your analytics stay in one place, because it's still one story. Want to see how a language is doing? Just filter by language.

Step 1: Set your default language

The first time you publish a story, you'll be asked to choose your story's languages. The one you pick becomes the default language and this version shown whenever no other language is available for a viewer.

Step 2: Add a translation

Once your default is set, open languages in the story menu and select Add translation. Pick the language you want, then choose how to build it translate with AI or start from scratch.

You can translate into a wide range of languages, including French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese (BR and PT), Polish, Romanian, Bulgarian, Swedish, Czech, Lithuanian, Estonian, Norwegian, English UK and English US.

Option A: Translate with AI

After Add translation, select Translate with AI and the full story is translated within seconds. AI does the hard work, and you stay in control. Once the AI has finished translating your entire story, you can make any adjustments you like.

💡 Tip: Always double-check the result manually before you publish. AI is fast and good, but a quick human read catches nuance and tone.

Option B: Start from scratch

Prefer to do it yourself? Start from scratch shows you all your content blocks in one overview, ready for you to fill in. You can translate the body text, headers, and continue-button text and switch between the language you're editing and the original, right below the preview.

Step 3: Activate the languages you want live

Each translation can be switched on or off, so you can prepare one quietly before it goes public. For example, a story with Dutch as default plus German and Spanish added with Dutch and German activated and Spanish not active yet. This shows only Dutch and German to viewers until you flip Spanish on.

Sharing a story in multiple languages

When you publish and create a share link (online link or QR code), open the advanced settings to choose the language:

  • Automatic: the story picks the language from the viewer's browser, falling back to your default if that language isn't available.
  • A specific language: lock the link to one language.

You can also create multiple links, one per language This is handy when you want a dedicated link for each market or campaign.

See how each language performs

Once your story is live, head to Aanalytics to see the performance of each language. Filter by a specific language to narrow down your search; this is a quick way to see which markets are of interest and where you can then invest.

💡Tip: One link per market. Create language-specific share links so each audience lands in their language from the first click.
