# Story templates

# Using story templates
Not sure where to begin? You don't have to start from a blank canvas. Intractive's **template library** is full of ready-made Stories you can use as inspiration or as a format to build on.

## What's in the library
Open the library and you'll find two kinds of ready-made Stories, and it's worth knowing the difference:
* **Templates** — a story you can use straight away. The structure is done; you just swap in your own messaging (what you want to say) and apply your **brand kit** for your own look and feel.
* **Story guides** — specific use cases that come **pre-filled with content**, to show you how a particular kind of story comes together and give you a running start on the idea.
In short: a **template** is a format to fill with your own content; a **story guide** is a worked example for a specific use case.

## Preview or use a template
Browsing the library, hover over any template to get two options:
* **Preview** — opens the template story so you can experience it exactly as a viewer would, before you commit. A great way to find the one that fits.
* **Use template** — adds the story straight to your project.

## From template to your own story
When you select **Use template**, the story is automatically added to your Project and appears in your **stories overview**. Just give it a name, and you're good to go. From there it's your story — a fully editable copy, with the original template left untouched.

What comes across with it:
* All **branches** and **content blocks**
* Content block settings
* **Story variables**
* Branding and theme choices
