# Publishing your Story and creating a share link

# Publishing your Story and creating a share link
You built a Story and now let's get it in front of your audience. Publishing makes your Story live, and a share link (or QR code, or embed) is how people actually reach it.

## Step 1: Publish your Story
Find the **Publish** button in the top bar of the editor. Its label tells you exactly where things stand:
* **Publish** — your Story isn't live yet. This is your first time.
* **Publish changes** — your Story is live, but you've made edits since the last release that aren't live yet.
* **Published** — your Story is live and matches what's in the editor.
The first time you publish, a window asks you to pick your **default language**, then you hit **Publish**.

| 💡Note: Only Editors and Admins can publish. And remember, edits you make later don't reach your audience until you press Publish changes. That's on purpose, so you can keep working without disturbing anyone who's viewing right now.

## Step 2: Open the Share options
Once your Story is published, click **Share** from the top bar, or from the action menu next to your Story in the Stories list.
You'll see three ways to share. Pick one, click **Continue**, and you'll drop into that share type's editor to configure it.

## Online, Offline, or Website — what's the difference?
**Online** is a link, **Offline** is a QR code, and **Website** is an embed.

### Online; a link for digital channels
A public browser link. Your audience clicks it and the Story opens in their browser. This is your go-to for anything digital: an **email campaign**, a **social post**, an internal message, a banner on your site, or a paid-search advertisement.

### Offline; a QR code for printed materials
This is the **QR code** option. It's a downloadable QR that points to the very same Story — built for the physical world: **posters, flyers, packaging, signage, business cards, event badges.** Someone scans it with their phone and the Story opens.

The QR editor lets you make it yours:
* **Style** — square, dotted, or rounded modules.
* **Colours** — foreground and background (keep the contrast strong so scanners read it reliably).
* **Logo** — drop your logo in the centre, with an optional border.
* **Export** — **PNG** for digital use, **SVG** for print (it scales to any size without going blurry).

| 💡Tip: Print it big enough to scan. Aim for at least 2 × 2 cm for something scanned at arm's length, and 5–10 cm on a poster people scan from a few steps back.

Website; embed it in your own page
Place the Story directly inside your own webpage, as a **Pop-up** — a full-screen overlay that opens when someone clicks a button or link.
The editor gives you a live preview and a ready-to-copy code snippet to hand to whoever manages your site.

|| 💡Note: "Offline" is simply the name for the QR code share — so if you're looking for a QR, that's where it lives. Online, Offline, and Website all point to the same published Story; they're just different doors into it.

## Step 3: Configure your share link
Whichever type you pick, you'll set a few things before it's ready. The most useful ones:
* **Campaign name** (required) — names this link so you can tell your channels apart in your Top traffic sources analytics. Give each link a clear name (e.g. "LinkedIn post", "Lobby poster QR").
* **Language** — pin the link to a specific translation, or let it auto-detect from the visitor's browser.
* **Always restart** — enable to always restart a story when URL is opened. Restarting will clear any previous progress in the story and count as a new session.

You can also give each share its own **social preview** — a custom title, description, and image for when the link is posted. Leave these empty and your Story's own settings are used instead.

| 💡Good to know: Because each link carries its own campaign name, you can create as many as you like — one per channel, market, or campaign — and see exactly which ones bring in traffic.

## All your share links in one place
Every link you create for a Story is kept together in the **Stories overview**, so you never lose track of them. In the **Shares** column you'll see a count of how many links a Story has — click it to expand the list and see each one.
Each entry shows its name (like **Recruitment**, **German test**, or **TEST**), when it was created, and how many views it's had.

## See performance in the Analytics tab
Once your Story is live, open the **Analytics** tab to see how it's performing. The **flow overview** is a visual map of how visitors move through your Story, and which share link they came from.
Because each link is tracked separately, you can see exactly where your traffic originates. In the example below, 3 visitors reached the Story: 1 came from the “German test” link and 2 came from the “TEST” link, all converging into the first step.

## Ideas & Inspiration
* **One Story, many doors.** Send an Online link on social, print an Offline QR for the event booth, and embed the same Story on your careers page — all from one published Story.
* **Name every link.** A clear campaign name per link turns your analytics into a real channel comparison.
