# Create an online share link for your story

# Create an online share link for your story
Want to send your story to the world, but not sure where to start? This article shows you how to create a share link in the Builder, and how to set it up so it looks good and tells you where your viewers come from.

**Who needs this:** anyone who has built a story and wants to share it via LinkedIn, Instagram, WhatsApp, email, Slack or any other online channel. **Outcome:** you have a ready-to-share link with its own campaign name, language settings and preview, and you know which channel it performs on.

### Step 1: Open the share options
1. Go to your story in the Builder.
2. Click **Share** and select **Online**.

### Step 2: Give your link a campaign name
Give your share link a **campaign name**, for example "LinkedIn - spring campaign". The name is only visible to you, in the analytics of your Intractive account. Your viewers never see it.

**Note:** Use a clear name per link. It is how you will recognise this link later in your analytics (see Story analytics).
**Tip:** Create a separate link for each channel (for example LinkedIn, Instagram and Slack). In your analytics you can then see which channel is doing the heavy lifting. For even more detail on where your visitors come from, see UTM code.

### Step 3: Choose your advanced settings (optional)
Under **Advanced settings** you can fine-tune how the story starts for your viewer.

* **Default language:** if your story has multiple languages and this is set to **Automatic**, the story opens in the language of the viewer's browser. Select a specific language and the story will always open in that language. See Translating your story for how to add languages.
* **Always restart:** when this is on, the story always starts from the beginning when a viewer opens the link again. Every restart counts as a new session in your analytics.
* **Set variables:** sets variables at the start of the story. This is useful when you work with Logic branches and want to decide up front which branch a viewer sees.

### Step 4: Set up your link preview
The link preview is what viewers see before they click, for example when you share the link on WhatsApp or social media. To complete your link:
1. Add an image.
2. Edit the preview text.

### Step 5: Copy and share your link
Copy your link and share it. You are done! Open the link yourself first to test that it opens the right story, in the right language, with the right preview.

| Pro tip: Create a separate link for each channel (for example LinkedIn, Instagram and Slack). In your analytics you can then see which channel is doing the heavy lifting. For even more detail on where your visitors come from, see UTM code.

| Good to know: QR codes are great for print and events, but skip them on social media. People are already on their phones and can't scan their own screen.
